Top 10 FAQ

We have answered the top 10 frequently asked questions to make your wedding planning process easier! If you have a question that is not on the list feel free to send us an email so we can get it answered.

1. Do I need a wedding planner or day-of coordinator?

Obviously, this is totally up to you! The words wedding planner often scare brides away because they automatically think expensive, but this isn’t always the case for day-of coordinators. It is great to want to plan your own wedding, but when it comes to the big day, who will be setting up and tearing down while the wedding party gets their makeup done? Day-of coordinators are there to make your whole day run smoothly from set-up to tear down.

We recommend April Gladieux because she offers many different services, including day-of coordinating and she is amazing. April even has free consultations, which is definitely something to take advantage of.

2. How many people fit in the barn?

Next, We can fit 150 seated in the barn. The main house can fit 50 seated or 75 people for a cocktail type event. Our max capacity for an outdoor tent wedding would be under 400 guests.

3. How much is a Scarlet Oaks wedding?

Our cost is on a per person basis. Please email for more information!

4. What’s included in the rental?

We provide tables, chairs, and tablecloths for weddings. If the wedding is over max capacity for the barn we provide the tent.

5. What are rental hours?

We offer a 12 hour rental, but the music stops at 10:30 p.m. and the barn closes at 11 p.m. All clean up must be done before the barn closes. If the wedding party shows up at 10 a.m. then the wedding would end at 10 p.m. due to the 12 hour rental policy.

6. Do you have bathrooms or do you provide porta-johns?

We have a fully-functioning restroom outside of the barn! There are separate bathrooms for men and women with multiple stalls and running water.

7. Do you provide decorations?

We do have some decorations for a nominal fee. There are some pictures of what we provide on our Facebook page!

8. Can I bring my own food and alcohol?

Yes! Scarlet Oaks does not provide any food or drinks for weddings. Food must be catered for weddings. Check out our preferred vendors list for some recommendations!

9. What happens if it rains?

Due to rain, we have held four ceremonies in the barn. While we hope it does not rain on your big day, we are not weathermen, but always remember, rain is good luck! The most important thing is to have a backup plan in case the weather is not in your favor.

10. Do you recommend vendors?

Yes, we have a preferred vendors list that you can reference.

Customer Spotlight – The Coopers

Customer Spotlight – The Coopers

We love our clients and we love being a part of the special moments in their lives. Our estate plays a role in the love story of many couples, so we wanted to share some of the love, starting with the Coopers.

Morgan & Brice Cooper

High school sweethearts, Morgan and Brice, were our second Scarlet Oaks wedding.  They held both the ceremony and the reception on our estate. Originally, they had planned to have their wedding at another venue, but due to complications they decided to find a new location.

Morgan’s step-dad just so happened to be the man who sold the estate to Bridgett and Kate, so of course he knew the perfect spot to have their big day!

On June 18, 2016, Brice and Morgan officially became the Coopers. The only way to describe their wedding is GLITZY. From the gold sequin bridesmaid dresses to the gorgeous chandelier hung in the barn, the Cooper wedding screamed glamorous. The gold gowns and sparkly decorations perfectly accented Morgan’s stunning white dress. Of course, the men looked great too in dashing grey tuxes with a bow tie to match.

Morgan brought glitz and glam to a barn wedding, while the men’s style added a touch of class and charm. This was a wedding and a family we would not forget!

“She Leaves a Sparkle Wherever She Goes”

Not only was it an honor to host the Cooper’s wedding, but we were also able to host Morgan’s baby shower in the main house on February 4, 2017. One thing that hasn’t changed since the wedding was Morgan’s love for gold. The shower was totally decked out in glitter gold and pretty pink EVERYTHING. From the flowers and the cake to the party favors guests took home (pink nail polish) it was only right that everything be pink for baby Cooper.

As always, Morgan was glowing as she arrived for her baby shower in a fun floral dress. Guests were entertained in the main estate living room with shower games, while food was served in the kitchen. “She leaves a sparkle wherever she goes” seemed to be the theme for the shower and for the Cooper girls.

Baby Cooper was born 20 days later on February 24th, and we are so excited for them. If only they would’ve named her Scarlet, how cute would that have been? All joking aside, we are happy that our estate has played a part in their love story and we hope the memories will continue for their new family!

The History of Scarlet Oaks Estate: The Memories Continue

The History of Scarlet Oaks Estate

“After looking at a number of different properties in surrounding communities and finally seeing the farm house, guest house and historical banked barn in person, we knew we had found THE one! On November 4, 2015 we decided to take the leap, and purchase this property we now call Scarlet Oaks Estate!”

It is no doubt the estate has unmatched character and an original charm. Bridgett and Kate knew from the moment they saw it that unforgettable memories would be made on the estate for many families and friends for years to come.

Underground Railroad

Not only would new memories be made, but the estate also has a memorable history dating back to 1852. It is believed that the main house played a role in the operations of the Underground Railroad. According to the Hancock Historical Society, this property does have several attributes to support this claim:

  • The home was built when the Underground Railroad was active in Hancock County
  • Other documented Underground Railroad sites in Hancock County are located along the same road
  • One written report makes mention of an unidentified farm on the Underground Railroad, approximately the same distance as this farm, south of Findlay
